Types of Airsoft Guns
Spring Powered Airsoft Guns

Airsoft spring guns are powered by a spring, you need to manually cock the firing spring before each shot.
Generally, spring powered airsoft guns are not as powerful as the gas and electric models, but they are usually cheaper and more affordable and can provide a great kind of training gun for beginners because they are uncomplicated to operate, durable and easily obtainable.

Electric Airsoft Guns
Electric airsoft guns, otherwise known as AEG, use electricity to power a motor that shoots out the plastic BB bullets.
They require batteries, usually 4 of the AAA type. The electric models of airsoft guns are the most popular types, mostly because the rate of fire can be up to 1000 rounds per minute.
The electric airsoft gun is great for all types of airsoft enthusiasts from beginner to advanced. They are very popular and durable and include, rechargeable batteries. They allow for quick shots, fast BB reloads and there are no extra costs besides the BB's, such as the gas refills necessary for the gas models.
It is also important to note that the electric models are much more realistic and advanced military replicas, often including, laser, scope, and other characteristics that are found in real military weapons.
Another advantage of electric airsoft guns versus the gas powered is a full battery charge lasts much longer than the gas charge allowing the player to shoot much longer without having to recharge the battery versus the gas which usually needs a reload every clip.
A good example of the electric airsoft gun model is the AK-47 which provides automatic and semi-automatic firing.

Gas Powered Airsoft Guns
Gas powered air soft guns are also known as GBB, they operate by inserting cartridges of CFC-free gas into the butt of the gun which propels the plastic BBs.
They are heavier and harder to handle than the other two types.
But, they do offer an advantage over the spring loaded ones because they are able to offer a semi automatic feel and you can shoot a few times before you need to replace the small CO2 cartridge.
